The idea for this play came to me when I was in England two summers ago. I was touring Oxford University and the tour guide offhandedly mentioned a cat that lived on campus and its reigning dynastic predecessors. I did some googling, fell down a rabbit-hole, and thus the play was born. While much of it fictionalized, you would be shock how much is rooted in absolute bizarre and astonishing realities - Rhys Luke

In 1833, teenage Emily Brontë creates a savage imaginary world in order to cope with societal pressure and the death of her sisters. In 2015, Lainey becomes obsessed with the internet horror figure, Slender Man, in the midst of a stunted suburban adolescence. In the middle of it all, the playwright loses her childhood home and reckons with her past and her choices. Fantasy eclipses reality, betrayals lead to violence and these three young women must grapple with being "too much" as they search for a place where they can be their fullest, wildest selves.

Inspired by the songs of the early 2000's, LOVECHILD sings along to the songs of Brittany Spears, Miley Cyrus, Fergie, and so many more. As most of our founding members grew up during this period, the cabaret will celebrate the nostaligia associated with some of our favorite hit songs. The LOVECHILD cabaret is a place to sing along, grab a drink, and party like its 2005!
